What you don't know about 4 line phone systems

When a telephone system has 4 lines (or "trunks"), this refers to the number of outside lines that can be routed through a particular phone or set of phones. For example, if your business has four employees, this type of system would allow each worker to have his or her own line.

However, a 4 line phone system can also come with multiple extension capability. In other words, customers can call one number and dial an extension to reach multiple people on that same line. This can work for both individuals and departments. When buying phones, you will see the lines and extensions together with an "X" between them. For example, if a telephone can handle four lines and 16 extensions, it will be represented as "4 X 16."

Features and Pricing

Most 4 line phone systems come with all the bells and whistles you would expect from an office phones system. You can incorporate caller ID, voice response, call waiting, customized voice mail and a host of other features with the product.
